90s Flashback

This week's Flashback goes to Pearl Jam and the song Bugs from their 1994 Album Vitalogy.

Vitalogy was released first on vinyl on November 22, 1994, two weeks before the CD release. It debuted at number 55 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The album sold 35,000 copies in its first week of release. It was the first vinyl album to appear on the chart due to vinyl sales since the proliferation of compact discs. When Vitalogy was released on CD and cassette on December 6, 1994, it reached number one on the Billboard 200 album chart. The album sold more than 877,000 copies in its first week of release on CD and became the second-fastest-selling CD in history, behind only the band's previous release Vs. Vitalogy has been certified five times platinum by the RIAA, and, as of March 2007, has sold 4.7 million copies in the United States according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Virtual Insanity is a single by the band Jamiroquai, and can be found on their 1996 album Tracelling Without Moving. The song reached number 3 in the UK in August 1996. The song also charted at #38 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart upon the single's US release in 1997.  Virtual Insanity is perhaps Jamiroquai's best known video. 90s Flashback today

Here is a video of Pearl Jam at one of their recent tour stops in L.A.  with a special guest.  Chris Cornell joined Pearl Jam on stage to perform their 90s hit Hunger Strike that was released under the band name Temple of the Dog.  Temple of the Dog was an American rock band that formed in Seattle, Washington in 1990. It was conceived by vocalist Chris Cornell of Soundgarden as a tribute to his friend, the late Andrew Wood, lead singer of Malfunkshun and Mother Love Bone. The line-up included Stone Gossard on rhythm guitar, Jeff Ament on bass guitar (both ex-members of Mother Love Bone), Mike McCready on lead guitar, Matt Cameron on drums and Eddie Vedder providing lead and backing vocals.
