Man allegedly robs pharmacy, puts cash on counter

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho – Police in northern Idaho arrested a robber accused of demanding a controlled drug from a pharmacy, then throwing cash on the counter before fleeing. Kootenai County Sheriff Lt. Stu Miller said a 39-year-old man was arrested Tuesday.

Police questioned the man at his Twin Lakes home Tuesday after getting a tip from a church pastor. He was being held in the county jail and expected to appear in 1st District Court Wednesday.

Investigators said a man went to the prescription counter at a Hayden-area Walgreens Monday night and asked the pharmacist for a drug. When told he needed a prescription, police said the man told the pharmacist he was robbing her.

After the clerk handed over the drug, police said the robber tossed some money on the counter and walked out.

McDonald's parking spot dispute turns violent

LOVELAND, Colo. – A long-running argument over a favorite McDonald's parking spot has resulted in an assault conviction. A Colorado jury on Friday convicted 52-year-old Vernon Brandt of Loveland of felony third-degree assault for a 2008 fight with 85-year-old Richard Albers.

On the day of the assault, Albers walked up to Brandt's truck because Brandt was blocking the spot Albers has been using almost every morning for 16 years. Albers tapped on Brandt's door, and Brandt then swung open his truck door, knocking Albers to the ground. Brandt then allegedly got out of his car, grabbed Albers and threatened to fight him. Prosecutors said the men had argued over the spot before.

Sentencing has not been set

Police say cook put body hair in cop's sandwich

EVESHAM, N.J. – Police said a cook put a body hair in the bagel sandwich of a police officer who had given him tickets in the past. The cook was arrested Feb. 21 in the kitchen of Good Foods to Go in Evesham. The police officer ticketed the cook in March 2009 when he failed to pull over for a traffic violation.

The cook spent four hours in jail before his wife bailed him out, and was fired from his job.

The Courier-Post of Cherry Hill reports police asked them not to report the incident for fear of copycat crimes. The paper published the story anyway.

SC cop stops go-cart, arrests man on drug charges

UNION, S.C. – A go-cart wasn't much of a getaway vehicle for a South Carolina man. The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reported that sheriff's deputies have arrested 29-year-old Edward Matthew Sweezy of Union after they stopped him last week at an intersection in Union.

The deputy had heard a report of a stolen go-cart and turned on his lights and siren after spotting it less than a half mile from Sweezy's home.

Sweezy is charged with resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness.

The deputy's report says the men struggled and the officer spotted a crack pipe and a bottle with three pills inside.

The sheriff's report said they turned the go-cart over to Sweezy's wife.

It was unclear if Sweezy had hired an attorney.
